COLUMBUS, Wis. (AP) -- Hundreds of people flocked to Columbus today to watch the filming of "Public Enemies " -- braving the chilly, damp air to catch a glimpse of its megastar, Johnny Depp.
Crew and security kept onlookers about a block away.
They are filming driving scenes in the downtown area, with hundreds staked out at several locations around the set trying to watch the action.
Sam Bush, 43, and his stepdaughter Lindsey Kassner, 21, arrived around 4 a.m. from Portage. Wrapped in blankets, they sat in folding chairs behind a road closed sign -- Lindsey with her binoculars and celebrity magazines, and Sam with his newspapers.
Kassner says it's not often they get to be so close to a movie set so the cold is worth it.
The film's publicist, Dave Fulton, says the crew reported to the set at 6:30 a.m. and they planned to film until dark. They plan to return tomorrow.
