Single mom Monica Walker is relieved, and so are about 15 other people, in the city of Green Bay.

Judge Jerry Hanson Saturday granted grace to 16 people and settled 41 warrants worth $14,000.

It was the city's second day to settle up outstanding warrants.

For people like Walker, who has three children, it was a relief. She said she recently lost her job and was wanted by police for unpaid tickets.

So she and others went to court to explain to Hanson why they hadn't followed the law.

Hanson allowed Walker to pay her tickets with her time instead of money. She said she'll do community service.

Hanson said these types of events benefit people but they also save the city thousands of dollars in police officer time, jail time and court time.

He says he plans to hold these settlement days twice a year.
