Police Chiefs In La Crosse Debate Concealed Weapons Proposal

Police chiefs from around Wisconsin are meeting in La Crosse for their annual conference.

A popular topic for debate this year is a concealed carry law.

The Badger State is one of six states without some type of concealed carry law.

The majority of chiefs think allowing the citizenry to carry concealed weapons would be a bad idea.

The state Legislature passed a concealed carry law last year, but Governor Doyle vetoed it.

Republican Representative Scott Gunderson of Burlington hopes to have another bill before lawmakers in October or November.
