Millions Of Dollars Already Banked For Wisconsin Governor's Race

Congressman Mark Green is building his campaign fund in the race for governor.

The Green Bay Republican has already collected one-point-seven million dollars, with 16 months to go before the election. Most of the money comes from a federal campaign account. Green transferred that money to a state account created for his gubernatorial bid.

Green and Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker are the only Republicans who've declared their candidacy to run against Governor Doyle, the first Democrat to hold the job in 16 years.

Back in January, Doyle filed reports with the state showing he already had two and a-quarter million in the bank for his re-election bid.

Campaign finance reports from gubernatorial candidates for the latest reporting period are not due until next week.
