The Onalaska Fire Department tells us an apartment fire that swept through a 16-unit building Monday morning was caused by a cigarette that landed between the cushion and armrest of a couch.
One woman jumped from a second-story window to get away and another was treated for smoke inhalation.
Five fire departments were called in to help fight the flames, but everyone in the building was able to get out.
