The Eau Claire Police Department hopes to have a new time-saving program up and running by the end of this summer and a new $45,000 grant will help with expenses.
The grant from the Department of Transportation will help expand the wireless networks for the city and the county. Officer Jason Kaveney says the money will go toward electronic citation writing and accident reporting. He says the software will help save officers time because they can electronically submit data to the DOT and Clerk of Courts.
The Eau Claire City Council approved accepting the grant Tuesday night.
