ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) – It was the perfect day to rock-n-roll at Cinder City Park in Altoona. 17 teams battled it out on the field for the Chippewa Valley Rock-n-Roll Kickball Classic.
Hundreds of spectators came out to cheer on the teams on Friday and Saturday, all while enjoying music from seven different bands, eating barbeque, drinking beer and even playing a game of Kubb and beanbags.
The city administrator said the Kickball Classic is a tradition he hopes stays with the growing community of Altoona.
“We're investing into community partnerships to create energy and bring fun to the community because we know quality of life is just as important in determining where you live,” said Mike Golat. “And this is one way of doing it. “
WEAU’s Megan Lowry, Amanda Tyler and Jenny You took part in all of the action on the field, making it to second place.
The event was put on by several sponsors, including Volume One, Leinenkugel’s, Whiskey’s Grill and Bar, the Eau Claire Area Sports Commission, 92.9 The Big Cheese and the City of Altoona.
