LIVING IN WISCONSIN, ODDS ARE YOU'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED A HURRICANE. SO IMAGINE MOVING TO NEW ORLEANS, BUYING A HOUSE, AND ENCOUNTERING A DEVASTATING HURRICANE FOR THE FIRST TIME...ALL WHILE YOUR HUSBAND IS STATIONED IN KOREA.
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT FORMER EAU CLAIRE RESIDENT RACHEL EVJEN (EVIAN)-BOOTH IS EXPERIENCING.
BOOTH AND HER HUSBAND WERE SUPPOSE TO CLOSE ON A HOUSE TOMORROW. BUT, BECAUSE OF THE HURRICANE SHE IS 4-HUNDRED AND FIFTY MILES WEST OF THAT IN LONGVIEW, TEXAS....THE CLOSEST TOWN TO NEW ORLEANS THAT HAD AN OPEN HOTEL ROOM.
BEING NEW TO THE AREA BOOTH ISN'T SURE WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN SHE GOES BACK TO CLOSE ON HER FUTURE HOUSE.
RACHEL BOOTH - "Supposedly it's suppose to be in a no flood zone...I don't know if that's going to be the case. Even with some of the rains we had in the last couple of week it gets deep pretty quickly."
BOOTH WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO EVACUTE LAST SATURDAY AT NOON...AT THAT TIME SHE SAID SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE STILL IN THE STREETS AROUND THE FRENCH QUARTER
