Attempted Homicide Charges Filed

An Altoona man is facing multiple counts of attempted first degree intentional homicide in connection to an Eau Claire house fire last month.

Twenty-seven year old Cedrick Simmons is accused of starting the fire at a house on the 600 block of Putnam Street.

Crews were tearing down the remains of the house today, police say they believe Simmons set the fire as revenge against the woman living at the house who is serving as a witness in an ongoing prostitution case.

The woman and her 2-year-old daughter escaped without injury after being rescued from the fire.

Simmons is also facing arson and felony intimidation of a witness charges.
