A St. Croix County man will spend 9 years in prison for killing his 3-month-old daughter.

22-year-old Joshua Schaak is charged with second degree reckless homicide for shaking his baby to death. He pleaded guilty to the charge in January.

Investigators say Schaak lied to police, telling them his daughter accidentally hit her head on the bathtub. He later admitted to hitting her head on a bedroom wall and shaking her.

In court, Schaak said he loved his daughter and was sorry for her death.

9 years? That's it? Are you kidding me? He killed his baby girl. Most people who kill others get life sentences. I don't care if the mom just up and left the baby with her baby daddy. A 3 month old had no way to defend herself. SICK!

As a mother of a shaken baby that survived the trauma but has been left with lifelong disabilities, I am appalled at this sentence. While the death of the child may not have been intentional, murder is murder. Why should this man get another chance at life when this innocent baby never will? Perhaps mandatory contraceptive practice would be a good plan for both the parents. Shaking a baby is so avoidable, and there are so many options available. Good luck to him in prison.

I agree that any life taken should be punished, but you only heard one part of the story, what about the mother who didn't tell the father that he was a father util just before the baby was born, and also what kind of mother dumps her baby on the fathers doorstep and walks away !! some concerned great caring mother she is !! so before you condemn someone look at both sides the media doesn't tell all !!!

That's it? Nine Years! This monster deserves life. How is a tiny baby's life only worth nine months?
