It was a party Friday morning in Eau Claire celebrating a year of better access to health care for Wisconsin's farmers.
Today, state senators and U.S. Senator Herb Kohl met to celebrate the anniversary of the Farmers' Health Cooperative.
It was set up to improve the cost and health insurance coverage of Wisconsin farmers.
The co-op has had 2,200 members come on board in the year since its launch last April first
Kohl says, "[Farmers] can’t get the kind of insurance that covers farm accidents… and at a competitive price. As more people realize this is available, it is clear to me, and others, that enrollment will grow."
Kohl says the co-op offers lower deductibles and better benefits to farmers who were paying, on average, 3 times more for insurance.
