Old Murder Yields Another Arrest

There's been another arrest in the killing of a Ladysmith man more than two decades ago.

Police in California arrested the ex-wife of the former Rusk County district attorney believed to have recruited his brothers to kill the man.

Cherie Barnard, an attorney, was picked up at her home in San Mateo Monday after she was charged in Rusk County with being party to first-degree homicide and lying to a grand jury in the murder of Robert Pfeil , Junior.

Barnard told the grand jury she didn't know how Pfeil was killed ... but investigators now say she helped plan the hit on Pfeil in August 1979.

Barnard is being held on one million dollars bail in California. Wisconsin prosecutors expect she'll be extradited to Rusk County.
