An Arizona-based organization says it's suing the Tomah School District over a district policy it calls unconstitutional.

The alliance defense fund says it filed the federal lawsuit Friday.

A copy of the lawsuit on the organization's website says when his art teacher asked him to draw a landscape scene in February. He drew a picture of a road leading to a cross.

The ADF says the teacher gave him a zero.

The lawsuit says district policy prohibits artwork that depicts violence, blood, sex or religious beliefs.

The suit also alleges that in March, the student was kept from creating a cross and a pin with the words "pray" and "praise" in his metals class.

The district says it hasn't received a complaint.
