Both sides of the political spectrum are watching John Roberts, the President's Supreme Court nominee, carefully and reviewing his background on hot button social issues.
Political analyst John Frank says Roberts is politically conservative, but cautions people against basing his record as a lawyer on how he'll serve as a judge.

"This is a person that's been an advocate, has been a representative, so the positions he's advocated have been the positions of the people who've employed him, either that's government or when he's in the private sector," says Frank.

A statement from Senator Russ Feingold, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee says although he approved Roberts for his place in the federal appeals court he'll review his record carefully and is looking forward to questioning him in the judiciary committee’s hearings.
