The number of pilots carrying guns while flying is on the rise, and is expected to increase even more despite a recent incident where a gun went off in a cockpit.
New information from the Transportation Security Administration shows about 9,500 pilots carry guns on domestic planes.
Pilots must go through a week long training session before they are cleared to carry a .40-caliber semi- automatic pistol.
Congress authorized pilots to carry guns on board planes as a last defense following the terror attacks on September 11th, 2001.
