Some area residents took advantage of the nice weather to brush up on their golf game, to benefit a good cause.
Organizers say more than fifty people played the 11th annual Patrick Hardy Memorial Golf Outing at Hillcrest Country club Thursday afternoon.
The tournament is named for a former president of the society who was deeply committed to helping children.
"This outing is to benefit the children and families that children's service society serves in many of our different programs, but especially our building families program, which is a child abuse and neglect prevention program that works with first time parents," says spokesperson Marnie Hersrud.
The golf outing is the largest fundraiser for the Eau Claire branch, and organizers hope to raise more than $7,000 through the tournament and a silent auction.
