Four La Crosse police officers are receiving special praise for helping an elderly family and their daughter from a burning home earlier this month.
Sergeant Michael Blokhuis and officers Brian Thomson, Todd Fischer and Andrew Rosenow's actions haven't gone unnoticed in the community with a recommendation for special commendation.
The officers crawled through a burning house on September 10th after a fire started in Janelle Huwald-Ortega's microwave and grew out of control.
Huwald-Ortega met officers at the doors and they were able to help get her 88-year-old father and 85-year-old mother to safety.
