The Eau Claire County Sheriff is giving credit to a recently-purchased thermal imager for helping catch two suspects in a recent burglary.

Investigators use thermal imagers to locate people when there is no other light -- the imagers can sense the heat people let off.

Sheriff Ron Cramer said the imager, provided with a $35,000 grant, spotted two suspects from a burglary in Augusta. Cramer said after officers saw the figures on the imager and they were able to take the suspects into custody without incident.
