Police say a 23-year old Cumberland man is in custody after he was involved in a standoff south of Cumberland.

Barron County Sheriff Tom Richie says the man is undergoing a mental health evaluation.

Richie says the man was standing on the ice in the middle of the lake holding a shotgun early Saturday morning on the Upper Turtle Lake.

After an hour of negotiations, deputies say the man surrendered.

No shots were fired, and no one was hurt. No charges have been filed in the case.
