Autumn Harvest Winery

John and Marykay McIlquham opened the winery this summer, and for their first season, brewed about 1000 gallons of six different kinds of wines.

They underestimated their popularity and sold out of the apple wines, made from supplies from family orchards, two weeks ago.

"We had a family stop in from Nebraska that were on their way to Hayward, made a detour off Highway 53 before heading north. To me, i never in a million years thought that would be happening in the first three months we were open," says Marykay McIlquham.
The winery will be closing with the orchard at the end of November, but the McIlquhams say they'll be ready with more apple wine in the spring.
