Lt. Governor: Plan Would Improve Wisconsin Economy

Governor Jim Doyle is hoping a new economic development initiative will make Wisconsin a better state to do business in, provide a better education for students, and help some of you build equity in the years ahead.

Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton praised the plan during a visit to Phillips Plastics Corporation in Eau Claire today. She says some initiatives within Grow Wisconsin-The 2005 Agenda will impact state taxpayers by about $11 million without factoring in potential tax credits, but that it will be money well spent.

"People will be able to buy homes in the Eau Claire and Chippewa Valley areas, to better education for our children and positioning them better to be next year's workforce," said the Lieutenant Governor.

She hopes the plan is taken up in the Legislature's first session this fall.
