CCAP Access

Wisconsin circuit court has a website that allows the general public to have access to civil and criminal court cases.

An Eau Claire man who serves as the state's Supreme Court's district administrator is helping evaluate if it should stay that way.

Gregg Moore was on the panel to launch the website in 1999 and is now part of the 20 person committee reviewing the availability.

"Many of the complaints concerned these records being available and a perception that particular employers were misusing the information and denying users employment," says Moore.

Moore says some of the options are adding a fee to the site or limiting the length of time a case is listed.

The committee will present their recommendations to the director of state courts at the end of the year.
