Feingold Rips Bush Recess Appointment Of Bolton To UN

Senator Russ Feingold is criticizing President Bush for installing John Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations.

Feingold, a Wisconsin Democrat who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee, had opposed the nomination during hearings back in April.

Bush sidestepped Democratic opposition Monday by nominating Bolton with a recess appointment, an avenue available when Congress is in recess.

It puts him in the post until a new Congress takes office 18 months from now.

Feingold says Bolton is fundamentally unsuited for the job.
