After two years in the making, the city of Eau Claire's comprehensive plan has jumped its first hurdle.
Eau Claire's City Plan Commission recommended approval of the plan Monday night. It now goes the city council.
"They'll look at this two inch thick document designed to look at how Eau Claire grows and may grow over the next 20 years and see what additions, improvements or changes have to be made," says Will Fantle, the co-chair of the planning committee.
Some of the major issues include Eau Claire's internal growth, maintaining older neighborhoods, designs for new neighborhoods, and improving transportation.
The city council will go over the plan in a work session later this month and has scheduled the first public hearing on the plan for Sept. 12.
