Wausau Teacher Pleads Guilty To Sexual Assault Of Student

A former Wausau teacher pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of forcing sex on a 15-year-old student and avoided a trial.

In exchange for his plea, four counts of child enticement and related charges against Mitchell King were dropped in Marathon County Circuit Court.

A jury trial was set to start August 15th. Assistant Marathon County District Attorney Theresa Merriwether says the plea means the victim won't have to testify and can get the case over with before school starts.

The plea recommends 15 years in prison with ten years extended supervision.

The 40-year-old King is also charged with second degree sexual assault in St. Croix County, where prosecutors say he assaulted the girl at a hotel in River Falls.

The Wausau School District fired King in April.
