When students from UW-Stout move in over Labor Day weekend, almost three hundred upperclassmen will able to say they were the first to call the Red Cedar Hall home.

The $16.7 million facility was paid for with student fees only, and is nearing completion. There are 75 suites, three of which are equipped for students with disabilities. There is also laundry facilities and a lounge on each floor.

"This building represents what students and their parents are telling us they want, what they're used to at home in terms of living environment and what's happening across the country in terms of new residence halls and living styles for students on campus," says Bob Johnson.

The suites have a kitchenette, living room and four single rooms.

Johnson says it will cost about $1200 more to live in the new facility, mainly because of the amenities and single occupancy rooms.
