It's welcome-home day for about 125 troops of the Army National Guard's Troop E, 105th Cavalry, based in Merrill and Antigo.

The soldiers have spent eight months in Iraq, but they arrived in Mississippi earlier in the week.

The welcoming ceremony is planned around noon at Volk Field.

Family members, senior officials of the Wisconsin National Guard and a military band will be on hand.

After the celebration, the soldiers will be released from duty.

In Iraq, they completed more than 350 missions doing convoy security.

With the return, the Wisconsin National Guard has about 250 soldiers and airmen serving on active duty. About 100 are currently deployed overseas.
