A fire caused major damage to a machine shed, a barn, and a car in Jackson County Monday.

It happened around 3 p.m. just south of Fairchild. Fire Chief, Bob Schultz, says a man was working on a car in his machine shed when a spark flew and started the fire on a bale of straw.

Schultz says the man didn't see the fire until about 10 minutes later, allowing it to spread to the attached barn. No animals were in it at the time. There's no damage estimate yet.

THe man, my uncle, was trying to start the car outside of the shed, but it wouldn't start. He saw the fire when it was small, but when he got back with water it was too late.
