A Barron County judge will preside over the trial of a former district attorney's ex-wife accused of participating in a 1979 murder plot.
Judge Edward Brunner was named Friday for Cherie Barnard's trial in Rusk County Circuit Court.
Judge Frederick Henderson ordered Barnard to stand trial on one count of being party to first-degree murder and one count of lying to a grand jury that investigated the killing last year. Henderson removed himself from the case because he presided over the grand jury proceedings and could be called as a witness.
Barnard plans to plead innocent in the death of Robert Pfeil.
