A father accused of punching a student who interrupted a Merrill High School football game is pleading innocent to charges.
A criminal complaint says Bobby Grunenwald became angry when his son missed an extra point when kicking against D-C Everest because some students ran onto the field September 30th.
Police say Grunenwald approached one of the students, who was only wearing purple underwear, a cape and shoes, and blamed the student for the missed kick. Prosecutors say Grunenwald then punched the student in the face and swore at him.
Grunenwald was charged with felony child abuse, which carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison.
