After a year of being away from home, soldiers are relieved to be back. However, for some soldiers, returning to their normal way of life can be tough.
Having served in an intense war, the transition back into civilian life can sometimes call for counseling.
Eau Claire county services officer, Cliff Sorenson, says, "The earlier the better. If they have any psychological problems that have resulted from their service, they should get into contact with our office and we can triage them off to these services to make sure they aren't missed along the way or fall through the cracks."
Senator Russ Feingold offered an amendment to the department of defense bill to ensure that all veterans receive the services they need. The bill is in the process of being voted on by the Senate.
Visit the Eau Claire County website for information about accessing the services available for veterans.
