Kohl, Feingold Unsure On Vote For New Chief Justice

Wisconsin's two senators say they're undecided on the confirmation of John Roberts as U-S Supreme Court chief justice ... and they're considering many of the same questions they had before the court nominee went through two and a half days of questioning.

Democratic Senators Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will vote next week on the nomination before the full Senate takes a vote.

Kohl says he still wonders what kind of justice and what kind of conservative Roberts would be on the high court.

Feingold says he's not clear on whether Roberts would hold to the conservative views he expressed in memos while working in the Reagan administration's Justice Department.

Roberts told Democrats on the committee that his two-year record on the federal appeals court should show that he's not an ideologue.
