Sawyer County will get some help to cover costs incurred by this month's trial of Chai Vang. Governor Jim Doyle is making $61,000 in federal funds available to the county, primarily for the sheriff's department.
The Office of Justice Assistance has already given the sheriff's department $25,000 dollars to cover security costs, and the governor wants the same office to give another grant of $36,000 dollars to cover costs during the investigation.
The Office of Justice Assistance will continue to work with the Sawyer County Sheriff's Department in administering the funds and with future needs of the department.
