Household hazardous items or old appliances and computers can be taken to the fairgrounds and desposed of for a fee. Appliances cost $10.00, air conditioners $20.00, plastic TV sets $10.00 and wood TV sets $15.00.
Water softners, mattresses, tires and furniture are not accepted.
However, stains, varnishes, pesticides, poisons, antifreeze, mercury, aerosol cans, household batteries, and waste oil are accepted. Latex paint, however, is not accepted. A fee is charged for fluorescent bulbs.
This is open to only residents of Chippewa County. Officials say improper disposal of the above items can cause fires, injuries to people and animals and create groundwater contamination.
