Mary Jurmain and her husband Rick started Realityworks 12 years ago after seeing students learning parenting skills from eggs or bags of flour. They developed "Baby Think It Over," which cries, requires feeding and rocking and will monitor care the temporary parents give.

The simulator was listed as a Fortune Magazine "product of the year" in 1994.

"I really want the company to be around after I'm gone," says Mary Jurmain. "I want it to be around for a long time and the only way you can do that is by letting other people step up and take on the leadership and learn."

Jurmain will stay on as chairman of the board for the company, but says she's looking forward to spending more time with her family and seeking other interests like piano lessons.
