Chippewa Valley Chapter Of Red Cross Summarizes Hurricane Relief Efforts

The Chippewa Valley Chapter based in Eau Claire says $487,984 dollars were donated to the local Red Cross from area residents and businesses shortly after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region. Red Crosse officials report that 32 volunteers from the Chippewa Valley are deployed in the areas of destruction, while 64 new volunteers have been trained to provide mass feeding, sheltering or direct assistance to people.
In the area served by the Chippewa Valley chapter, officials say that 24 families who arrived from the Gulf Coast region are receiving assistance.
