An issue the Oshkosh School Board had to deal with two months ago, is now front and center with the Eau Claire School Board.

Incoming Superintendent Ron Heilmann held a press conference in Eau Claire Tuesday night to clear the air about allegations of misconduct with a student while he served as superintendent with the Oshkosh School District.

Ron Heilmann says, "The situation is an unfortunate situation, although there is nothing I could have done personally to prevent it."

Eau Claire School Board President Carol Craig says, "It looks like Oshkosh did everything they had to do, every letter and every step to make sure that any allegation that was put forward was found to be either valid or not valid and this was found to be not valid."

Heilmann says independent legal council looked into the allegations that he took a trip with a student, but found out nothing happened.

Ron Heilmann says, "Its cleared my name of any wrong doing."

Dr. Heilmann says he doesn't expect people living in Eau Claire to quickly forget about these allegations.

Ron Heilmann says, "You don't clean up mistrust. It only happens when you see Ron Heilmann at work."

Even with the Eau Claire School District already in turmoil over the conduct of former superintendent Bill Klaus and former School Board President Carol Olson, Heilmann says he's confident the community will once again have faith in the district.

Ron Heilmann says, "They will base restoration on public confidence based on continued action and being involved in a variety of school district policies."

And says he's excited to become a part of the Eau Claire area.

Ron Heilmann says, "I've really come to very much enjoy the area. I've got family that live in the area, so there's a lot of positives."

New School Board President Carol Craig agrees the new superintendent will become an integral part of the district.

Carol Craig says, "I think there's not a doubt in our mind but what Dr. Heilmann will come and do a great job and be an active member of our community."

Dr. Heilmann starts as Eau Claire’s superintendent on July 1.
