A Cornell native has been selected to serve as the only student representative on the board for the Wisconsin Technical College System. 22-year-old Hunter Oemig is set to graduate next month from the Chippewa Valley Technical College's machine tools program. He has a degree in automotive collision, is working on a degree in welding, all while running a business that makes and supplies parts for classic cars.
Oemig says serving on the board is an honor and another learning experience. "It's actually made me have, I don't know if respects a better word for it, have a lot more positive feelings towards politics and why everything happens," he says.
As a board member, Oemig travels to Madison once a month, to give a student perspective and vote on issues facing the technical college system. He'll serve until 2007.
