A large piece of construction equipment is mired in about 5 feet of swamp water and mud southwest of Eau Claire.

Apparently the backhoe was being used to install a 20 foot road culvert.

That's when it rolled into the swamp and got stuck.

Efforts to pull the machine out started Thursday morning.

Apparently nobody was hurt.

No other details were available.

Well sometimes people think they know something but really have no facts as posted by the following person. The land owner and the contractor had permits so nothing "sly" was done here.

It is my understanding this person did NOT have a permit to put the culvert in...(He was trying to do this on the "sly")I hope the DNR is informed of this - as well as the county...
