Wisconsin Cranberrys Headed Overseas In Larger Numbers

Print

Emerging foreign markets are good news for Wisconsin cranberry growers.

Nearly one-fourth of the domestic cranberry crop is now sold overseas. Rich in antioxidants, consumers in Europe and Asia are realizing the berry's potential. That's due in part to efforts by the USDA's Cranberry Marketing Committee.

The Wisconsin Cranberry Growers' Association says this year's state crop is expected to produce 3.6 million barrels -- the largest ever in Wisconsin. It's still early in the harvest season.

Wisconsin produces about 55% of the cranberries grown in this country.
