The Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club will be closed to the public this weekend for a hunting party of five people. Along with the Buckmasters American Deer Foundation, the club is hosting it's first annual disabled hunt. Seventeen people from around the country applied to participate, and those accepted will spend the weekend hunting with volunteers on the property owned by the club.

The main organizer of the event, who has hunted with assistance due to scoliosis, says he wanted others to have the same chance.

"The people I hunt with, family and friends, they've all done things for me," says Scott Wallus. "This is my way of saying thank you to those individuals."

Donations for the first time event will help pay for food, lodging, licenses, and travel expenses for the hunters.

Organizers are hoping to make the disabled hunt an annual event. For more information on upcoming disabled hunts, check the Buckmasters American Deer Foundation's website.
