The man accused of hitting a Chippewa County boy with his van pleaded guilty to negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Court documents show a judge dismissed a charge of reckless driving for 22-year-old Kevin Moeller, who lives in Chippewa Falls.

In January, in rural Wheaton, deputies say the van hit 10-year-old Richard Yang as he was trying to get onto the school bus. His last available condition was improving according to his Caring Bridge website.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment. Deputies say the weather may have been a factor.

Moeller is on probation for a year, pay an undetermined amout of restitution and write an apology letter.
