For the second time in almost 15 years, an elementary school in Boyceville collected one million pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.
Students at tiffany creek elementary held a race to fill eight 50-gallon barrels Thursday with the pop tabs. Ronald McDonald was also on hand to celebrate. The pop tabs total more than $800. The idea started in 1991 when students thought it would be fun to see what one million tabs looked like. Then in 1995, the goal was accomplished. So, students strived to reach that goal again
"I wasn't gonna do it right away and people kept asking me 'are you saving?' and they kept bringing pop tabs to me and so I said ok...and a few years later we decided to start saving,” says teacher Deb Bell.
The Ronald McDonald House serves as "a home away from home" for families whose children are seriously ill and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.
