Josh Ringham of Baraboo only wanted to go fishing in Lake Wisconsin, but he wound up watching a tow truck fish his pickup out of the water.

Ringham launched his canoe at the Moon Valley Bay boat landing in the town of Merrimac yesterday afternoon and parked his pickup truck.

But the pickup popped out of gear and rolled backwards down the landing and into the lake.

A diver had to be called in to hook a cable to the truck so it could be pulled out as an audience of passersby watched.

Merrimac firefighter Jim Gallus says it's not the first time he's seen a vehicle pulled out of Lake Wisconsin. He says it happens quite often.
