An autopsy is being performed on the body of a man officers say was pulled from the Chippewa River in Rusk County. As of 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sheriff David Kaminski says the identification process has not been completed.

The sheriff says a fisherman found a body in the area Thursday morning near where crews have been searching for Russell Neilsen.

Neilsen is the 30-year-old Rice Lake man who's been missing since early April.

The body was found about three miles downstream from where Neilsen's van was.

Officers concentrated their search efforts near the Chippewa River, about ten miles north of Bruce.

Sheriff David Kaminski says Neilsen’s family found his hat and coat in the woods near the river, along with the van.

Kaminski says there are no other missing people in the area.

Officers have yet to identify the body or indicate how the person died.

I am so deeply saddened by the lose of Russell. He was such a great guy, always making everyone laugh. I regret that I haven't seen him much since high school but the few times I did see him, he was still the same old Russ, cracking a joke and making you laugh like crazy. He will be greatly missed by many people. I want to send out my deepest condolences to the Nielson family, as well to Russ's fiance. I don't believe that we met but you were sharing your life with a wonderful man. May God bless you all in this sad time. We will all keep Russell in our hearts and thoughts forever. Lance, if there is anything that I can do, please let me know.

Let's not jump to conclusions. The person hasn't been identified yet. Also, have some sympathy for any family who has lost a loved one and think before you type something so insensitive.

To the Neilsen family, Our , sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with you at this tragic time. Could this be the markings of a serial killer/s? After reading the news that detectives believe there are serial killers out there killing young men who have been found in the same river Russ's body was found. I hope they catch the culprits responsible for this nice young mans death.
