Wisconsin Sex Offenders Told Not To Answer The Door Halloween Night

State corrections officials have directed Wisconsin's 4,800 sex offenders on community supervision not to answer the door if a trick-or-treater happens to show up.

The directive also requires the sex offenders to stay away from any Halloween gathering that may involve children.

There are 17,500 registered sex offenders in the state, including those who are behind bars and those on extended supervision.

State law requires sex offenders to register with their local law enforcement department, and residents are notified when an offender moves into the neighborhood
