Collision Avoidance Training

Video will be available shortly.

While there's no way to completely avoid accidents on the road, a course at the Chippewa Valley Technical College seeks to train drivers how to react to those situations.

Bus and truck drivers can complete a seven hour collision avoidance training class.

Drivers practice on a closed course, learning how to handle driving off the curb, in construction sites, and how to handle slippery roads.

"They are able to make a mistake, recover from that mistake and not have an accident," says Duane Severson. "Even if they make a mistake and don't recover, they have the learning experience of that mistake in a safe environment."

Severson says many of the area's busing and trucking companies including Eau Claire Transit, have annual contracts to have drivers renew their training.
