New UW-Madison Chancellor

A special Board of Regents committee is meeting again to try to recommend the next UW-Madison chancellor. This is the five member committee's second meeting.

The chair says the committee started reviewing the four finalists last week, but didn't reach consensus. He says committee members decided they needed to do more research before they could reach an agreement. That could come as early as Tuesday (today).

The finalists are UW-Madison Letters and Sciences Dean Gary Sandefur, Michigan economist, Rebecca Blank, University of Minnesota vice president for research, Timothy Mulcahy and Cornell University provost, Biddy Martin. Whoever gets the job would succeed John Wiley, who is stepping down.
