Man Injured, SUV Plunged Off Cliff

SHOREWOOD, Wis. (AP) -- A man has been hospitalized after his sport utility vehicle plunged off a cliff near Lake Michigan in a northern Milwaukee suburb.

North Shore Fire Department Deputy Chief Charlie Myers says it seems the vehicle went straight across Atwater Park in Shorewood about 300 feet and plummeted 200 to 300 feet, landing upside down on a path below near the sand about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Myers says the man was alive and outside of the vehicle when paramedics arrived at the bottom of the bluff. He says he doesn't know how the man got out of the car or how badly he was injured.

After paramedics carried the man back up the bluff on a cot, he was transported to a nearby school, where a helicopter flew him to a local hospital.
