The Eau Claire City Council approved a new ambulance for the Eau Claire Fire Department. The new ambulance will cost $178,000.

Fire Chief, Ed Kassing, says the state-of-the art vehicle will replace one that's 14-years old. Kassing says the old ambulance has 145,000 miles on it and needs a lot of maintenence.

The chief told council members the new ambulance is very fuel efficient and will help rescuers cover 911 calls in Eau Claire, Altoona and several surrounding townships.
